Adjectives
Adjectives are words that describe or modify nouns (people, places, things, or ideas) by providing more information about their qualities or attributes.
They can describe characteristics such as size, colour, shape, age, origin, material, or condition. Adjectives help make nouns more specific and vivid, allowing us to paint a clearer picture or evoke stronger emotions in writing or speech.
For example, in the phrase “a big house,” “big” is the adjective describing the size of the noun “house.”
Here are three examples demonstrating the use of adjectives, the ‘before’ sentences do not have an adverb and the ‘After’ sentences have the adjectives included:
Before: She wore shoes.
After: She wore colorful shoes.
Before: He has a bike.
After: He has a fast red bike.
Before: They have a cat.
After: They have a fluffy grey cat.
Now a longer sentence
Before: The student finished the project.
After: Working late into the night, the diligent student finally finished the challenging science project in time for the school fair.
